I used to have a half-baked geocities site, adhoc html and little ordering. I was clearing out my disk and I came across it, and actually found a useful page (of unknown origin) which gave a ski training routine:

90 minutes of cardio-vascular. Elliptical cross-trainers are best. Do lower-intensity workout on two of the days, higher on the third.

(40 minutes of strengthening and agility training as circuit training)

  1. Squats (three sets) 15-25.
  2. Alternating front lunges with dumb-bells (1-3 sets) 15-25 reps with each leg
  3. Dumb bell step-ups (using a 30-45 cm step)
  4. One leged jumps(1-2 sets) 10 reps with each leg, jumping slightly from one leg to the other.
  5. Asymmetric arm swings with dumb-bells 1-2 sets 10 reps each arm. Simulating the back-and-forth poling motion as you ski, with a dumbbell in each hand.
  6. Lat pull-down 2-3 reps, 25-50 reps.
  7. Abdominal Crunches 2-3 sets, 25-50 reps.
  8. Bend-over dumb bell rows 1-2 reps 10-15 with each hand.

Freshtracks the Ski Club holiday brochure has a rating guide for skiiers: this allow you to make the best choice of holiday. The holiday leaders will rate the skiiers abilities. Fitness often lets people down, causing them to ski well below their ability. They recommend that three-months before going on holiday you ought to be doing 40 minutes aerobic excerise, 3 times a week.

What a great incentive to get fit. The thought that when you do get out into the resort the skiing is going to be awesome.
